Double Cleansing
Having consulted with many clients since Amoke Skincare’s inception, I’ve discovered that when I mention ‘double cleansing’ many people draw a blank.
What is double cleansing?
It’s quite simply the process of cleansing your face twice at night. You're wondering; "how do I double cleanse?" Traditionally, the first cleanse is done using an oil based cleanser like a cleansing oil or cleansing balm. The oil in the cleanser acts as a solvent and draws out the dirt to clean off make up, SPF and other products. The second cleanse is a water based cleanser that works to gently clean the skin and rid it of any remaining debris.
Why should I double cleanse?
Throughout the day, our skin houses a build up of dirt, oil and products (think make up and think SPF if you are reapplying and I trust you are 😉). Essentially, we need a more thorough cleansing process to get rid of this build up so as not to clog our pores and cause breakouts. Although the traditional first cleanse is typically an oil, it is possible to simply cleanse twice with a water based cleanser. The most important thing is your skin is rid of product build up and dirt.
Let me know if you double cleanse or not. What do you use? Are you a DIY babe/bobo and you use a carrier oil or are you a product junkie and have every cleansing oil/balm every brand releases? Or are you a prudent one and you use one cleanser for both cleanses? Talk to me.
